About United HDD
35+ Years of Precision Underground
From a single rig to a nationwide fleet — built on safety, skill, and a relentless commitment to getting the bore right the first time.
Company History
Our Story
United HDD Owners Started in The Directional Drill Field in the 1990s when horizontal directional drilling was still an emerging technology. Our founders saw the potential to transform how utilities cross roads, rivers, and sensitive terrain — without the disruption of open-cut excavation.
Over three decades we've grown from a regional contractor into one of the most trusted HDD specialists in the country, completing projects in 48 states for municipal utilities, pipeline operators, telecommunications carriers, and energy companies.
What hasn't changed is our core belief: every bore deserves the same level of engineering rigor, crew expertise, and safety discipline — whether it's a 200-foot fiber crossing or a 4,000-foot river bore under 80 feet of cover.
Compliance & Credentials
Certifications & Compliance
United HDD maintains a full portfolio of industry certifications and regulatory compliance programs, ensuring every project meets or exceeds federal, state, and client requirements.

NASSCO Certified
National Association of Sewer Service Companies certification for pipeline inspection and rehabilitation standards.
DOT Compliance
Full Department of Transportation compliance program including driver qualification files, hours-of-service tracking, and vehicle inspection records.
Avetta
Pre-qualified contractor status on ISNetworld and Avetta platforms, meeting the safety and compliance requirements of major utility and pipeline operators.

Safety First
Safety Record
Safety is not a program — it's the foundation of how we operate. Our EMR (Experience Modification Rate) consistently outperforms the industry average, reflecting a culture where every crew member is empowered to stop work if conditions aren't right.
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA) completed before every bore
- 811 utility locates and private locating on all projects
- Confined space entry program with atmospheric monitoring
- Drug and alcohol testing program — pre-employment, random, and post-incident
- Emergency response plans on all projects near waterways or highways
- Regular third-party safety audits and client-specific safety orientations
